The Pacific was intended to be HBO's companion piece to Band of Brothers, even though it was released nearly a decade later.  The Pacific focuses on Marines rather than the Army during the same timeframe as the Army miniseries.

It was the most expensive series ever produced, with a budget of $200 million for the entire season of ten episodes!
