The 20 Greatest American Muscle Cars Get Ranked!

12.1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

$7,200 was originally paid; the current value is $500,000,000. Today, $7,000 or more may seem like a great price for a muscle car. But in the year 1969? It was unprecedented. It's safe to argue that Chevrolet made the pricey but flamboyant Camaro ZL1 worthwhile. The coupe, which only sold 69 units, featured everything from speed and power to a stylish look.

"When a car has the right options—color, chambered exhaust, and four-speed—and is in exceptional condition with known provenance and factory documentation, a world record can result," said collector car dealer Colin Comer. Indeed, the ZL1 has broken records and holds the distinction of being arguably the greatest Camaro ever produced.
