20. Lost – $4 Million per Episode


There is no doubt that TV shows like the previous entry would not have been possible without Lost's runaway success. Lost's addictive structure became a worldwide phenomenon, even though there were undoubtedly other serialized, mysterious shows before it. No matter what you think of Lost's ending, it captured the audience's attention.
The show's movie-like quality, which was a result of a generous budget, contributed a lot to its massive success. The pilot episode of Lost cost between $10 and $14 million, while each episode of Lost cost approximately $4 million. Purchasing and shipping a decommissioned airliner for plane wreckage was the biggest expense for the pilot! Looks good, didn't we?
