9. Westworld – $10 Million per Episode
A rocky start was experienced by Westworld. A significant budget was given to showrunner Jonathan Nolan by HBO. You can imagine their fear when he halted production on the first season of the show in order to retool it. Westworld quickly became HBO's most popular show after its pilot aired in late 2016.
Its story is told through an extensive cast and an even larger playground. There is, however, a cost associated with these things! The show's first season cost about $100 million to produce. Those costs translate to eight to ten million dollars per episode. About $24 million was spent on the extravagant, feature-length pilot alone! It's safe to say that these numbers will only continue to rise as the show progresses!
