Ray Kroc is credited with introducing McDonald's to the Hula Burger in the 1960s. An invention made by Kroc was a pineapple slice, not a hamburger. The pineapple would be sandwiched between two buns and covered with cheese. It was intended to provide a meat alternative for Friday meat-fasting Catholics. As you can imagine, the Hula Burger's existence was brief.
