5. Fire Blankets

Among the many common home safety items is a fire blanket. A sheet of fire-extinguishing material is included in the blanket, which is intended to put out flames. Cover the fire with the blanket to put out any flames that may arise. Everyone should keep one or two fire blankets in their home, as they have repeatedly saved disasters from escalating from cooking mishaps.

These practical safety gadgets do not, however, stay forever. They must be replaced after seven years because they become less effective. The last thing you want to do is try to put out a fire with a fire blanket and end up spreading it more.
